Newlyn is ideally placed to try out many local activities. There are several local beaches from which you can surf, paddle- board or kite-surf.  A good place to start is The Hoxton Special (www.thehoxtonspecial.com), which is based at the back of Marazion Beach. You can learn to Kite-surf, hire a Paddle-board or take out a Kayak and explore. You can drink some of their famous coffee at their beach side Coffee Shop in some vintage china and eat a slice of amazing cake.

There are many other things to do in this area such as horse riding or even sea swimming with horses. This takes place at Long Rock Beach with the fabulous backdrop of St Michael's Mount.     

Just a short walk along the promenade takes you to Wherrytown Skateboard Plaza which is open to all abilities of bikers, skaters and scooters all year round.

You can hire bikes, including e-bikes together with helmets in Penzance which is a great way to get around this beautiful area. 

Newlyn is home to an independent cinema and a cafe/bar, while there is another in Penzance, along with The Acorn which is a live music venue. 

Also, why not pay a visit to The Jubilee open air swimming pool in Penzance? This is the  UK’s largest and most celebrated Art Deco sea water lido. It's an open air pool and heated geo-thermal pool. 

Sea Gem is in a great location to take an art course at The Newlyn School of Art, which is literally a one minute walk from the house! Art courses for all abilities and in all mediums are available.
